Randy de Puniet surprised a few as the Frenchman completed the fastest lap of the day at Sepang. The all-new Honda LCR rider completed his fastest lap in 2.03.033 and was three tenths of a second faster than Suzuki rider Chris Vermeulen.
Preparations for the 2008 MotoGP season continued in Malaysia for a there-day test at Sepang. On Thursday testing began with ten riders on track and temperatures rising up to 32 degrees Celsius. In the morning the track remained dry and in perfect condition for the riders but in the afternoon rain came down.
At the Yamaha Tech 3 team Colin Edwards familiarised himself with the bike. He completed the third fastest lap time. His team-mate, James Toseland, enjoyed his first day of testing with a MotoGP bike. He finished the day in final position.
