Marco Melandri will leave the Ducati team at the end of this season, the rider's manager has confirmed. Melandri was due to stay with the team until the end of 2009 but having failed to match up to Casey Stoner, the two parties have apparently decided to go their own ways.
"The contract keeping us at Ducati for 2009 has been terminated by mutual agreement so no penalty will be applied," Melandri's manager told ANSA.
Melandri is expected to race at the next round of the season, but Ducati are rumoured to be considering replacing him before the end of the season.
