Ducati test rider to become Team Manager

Ducati test rider to become Team Manager

27 October 2009

Ducati has revealed that test rider Vittorio Guareschi is set to become Team Manager ahead of the 2010 season. With such a role not occupied in the team, the Italian is pleased to be taking the position.

"I'm going to fill a void, in the sense that a Team Manager role hasn't existed in the Ducati team before," Guareschi, who joined the marque in late 2001, explained to Motosprint.

"I will be the link between the riders and Filippo Preziosi (Technical Director); I will be close to the riders, I'll go out on track to see what happens and I will be an advisor to them - finally, I will also manage the work in the garage."

With high knowledge of the 800cc MotoGP class Desmosedici model bike, the role is likely to be an effective one for Vittorio. "I have been the tester of this bike since the beginning, so I know it perfectly," he acknowledged. "In this regard, I can really give the riders a hand - that is why Casey (Stoner) wants me to continue testing too; I don't think I will do it for much longer, though - I'm 38, so will have to quit in a couple of years' time."
