Surgery successful for de Puniet

Surgery successful for de Puniet

24 November 2009

Surgery has been completed on the left ankle of Randy de Puniet in order to extract several screws which had been implanted following a motocross accident this year. The 28-year-old is now recovering as Sepang testing slowly draws closer.

The Frenchman suffered his fall shortly before the Czech Grand Prix at Brno in August, forcing the LCR Honda man to ride his bike with the screws in his ankle for the remaining seven races of the season.

"It has been a very quick and easy operation," said a thankful de Puniet. "After the crash in August, I worked hard to get the best from the bike but sometimes it was very painful for me; after the races my ankle was always very swollen but now I'm very satisfied because the size is normal again."

He added that stitches will be removed in just over a fortnight's time before rehabilitation training begins prior to the all-important February testing in Malaysia.
