Aoyama to race with number 7

Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama will ride using the number 7 for his first season in MotoGP's top class this year. His choice to race with the number comes as a tribute to late compatriot Daijiro Kato.

"My favourite number is the 74 of Kato," the Emmi Caffé Latte Team Honda rider explained. "In 2009 I used 4, a part of that number - from now on I'll use 7, the other part of Kato's number."

Following the tragic death of Kato in 2003, the number 74 was removed from MotoGP as a mark of respect.
