Álvaro Bautista has made his first appearance in Rizla Suzuki sky blue as he prepares to step up to MotoGP's top class for the first time this year. After claiming the 125cc title four years ago, the 25-year-old Spaniard joins MotoGP after three years in the 250cc tier, now replaced by Moto2.
Born in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo in November 1984, Bautista made his professional debut in the 125cc class in 2002. With his fifth and final season in the group having seen him reach number 1 in 2006, his three 250cc seasons produced a pair of fourth place overall classifications, sandwiching the runner-up spot of 2008 in the statistics.
For the new decade, the former Master Mapfre Aspar man has signed a 2-year Suzuki contract as he becomes team-mate to experienced campaigner Loris Capirossi for 2010.
