Pramac downcast after double retirement

12 April 2010

The Pramac Racing squad was the only team to see both of its bikes fail to finish the first Grand Prix of the season in Qatar. With Mika Kallio having gone down on the opening lap, Aleix Espargaró then retired into the pit lane.

After qualifying 12th and 14th at Losail, it was a fleeting evening in the desert for Pramac as both bikes fell short of making the finish.

"Really a pity because on this track our bikes were very competitive," said Fabiano Sterlacchini, Pramac Technical Director.

"Mika was hit twice on the first lap and the second time was even thrown off-track. Probably, after returning to the track in last position, he was pushing hard and the bike was still dirty and not in perfect condition.

"Aleix was very unlucky; he was having a good race but unfortunately lost the front and slipped into the dirt before the final straight."
