LCR Honda MotoGP rider Randy de Puniet qualified himself in sixth position for Sunday's Grand Prix in France. De Puniet was the second fastest Honda rider in front of his home crowd at Le Mans and is looking forward to Sunday's race.

De Puniet and his crew made some big changes to the set up of his RC212V after yesterday's technical issues and the adjustments worked well as the 29-year-old recorded the 7th fastest lap time in this morning second free session. The 60-minute qualifying session saw de Puniet in strong form taking the sixth spot on the grid (second fastest Honda) ahead his warm fans. Tomorrow's third round of the season will get underway at 14:00 local time with Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa on the front row.

"I am very happy about this result as yesterday's session was very tough for us," De Puniet said. " Yesterday after the practice I said I was confident for today it was not right. I felt very frustrated because I could not lap as I like and the bike was very nervous. But the guys made an excellent job and this morning I immediately felt more comfortable. Then we took a step forward in the qualifying obtaining the second row once again for the third time this year.

"Everybody in the team is very pleased with this result and I want to thank them for their efforts. This race is really special for me and hope to finish in the front ahead my fans though I am a bit worried about the start as it is very difficult to overtake on this track."
