Honda thrilled with double podium result

7 June 2010

With Yamaha having taken three wins from as many rounds at the start of the season, Honda enjoyed being on the top step of the podium in Italy at the weekend. Toshiyuki Yamaji was naturally elated with the double rostrum result of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, winner and third place finisher respectively.

With Pedrosa on pole, his team-mate started some seven positions further back for his home Grand Prix although an impressive five-place rise saw Dovizioso climb to third.

"My congratulations go to Dani on this victory because he was in a different class today and it was impossible for anyone to stay with him," Team Manager Yamaji commented. "His pace was very impressive and he controlled the race totally.

"Also, Andrea did an excellent job and - considering his starting position - we couldn't have asked for much more. The Repsol Honda Team has two riders on the podium and we will simply use this as even more motivation to improve and to challenge our rivals.

"We will enjoy this result but we are certainly not going to relax at all as we go into the busiest part of the season."
