4 July 2010

Dani Pedrosa led the timesheet in the warm up ahead of the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya on Sunday morning, with a lap of 1’42.864 in considerably cooler conditions than yesterday. The Spaniard was joined under the 1’43” mark by Casey Stoner (Ducati Team), who at 0.072s off his pace was the second and final rider in the 1’42” bracket.

Pole holder Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha) was next up as he times in at 0.161s off Pedrosa, with Andrea Dovizoso (Repsol Honda) fourth. Aleix Espargaró (Pramac Racing) and Álvaro Bautista (Rizla Suzuki) completed the top six as they continued their promising weekends.

American trio Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team), Colin Edwards and Ben Spies (both Monster Yamaha Tech 3) were next up in the order. Randy de Puniet (LCR Honda), who will start the race from the front row, was 11th as he worked out which tyre combination to go for.

The only crash of the session occurred when Espargaró went off at Turn 5, but the Pramac rider was uninjured. The MotoGP race start at 2pm local time.
