Stoner switches from Ducati to Honda for 2011

9 July 2010

Just minutes after Ducati sent out a press release confirming that Casey Stoner would part company with the team at the end of the current season, Repsol Honda has revealed that the Australian will be joining the squad for at least one year. The team also hopes to retain Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso in what it hopes to be a 'truly formidable line-up'.

With Ducati having announced on Friday morning that it would go its separate ways from their 2007 Champion rider at the end of the year, Honda revealed its latest signing just a short time later.

“We are very pleased that Casey will join Honda again next year,” said Shuhei Nakamoto, Vice President of the Honda Racing Corporation. “Clearly he is one of the top riders in MotoGP and he will bring valuable speed and experience to our team.

“In the factory Honda squad we already have two very strong and experienced riders in Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso, who are performing very well and currently hold second and third positions in the 2010 World Championship. HRC hopes also to retain these two riders for next year - giving us what would be a truly formidable line-up.”
