Steadiness still the aim for Lorenzo

20 July 2010

Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo may have seen Dani Pedrosa nibble away at his lead in Germany last weekend although the Yamaha man’s chief target remains the podium as Laguna Seca prepares to close to the latest pair of back-to-back races.

Pedrosa and Honda led the way at the Sachsenring on Sunday, 3.3 second ahead of Lorenzo at the finish, to reduce the championship-leading margin to a still healthy 47 points. For Jorge, though, stability is key.

“This is the first time this season that we've left Europe and I'm excited to be going to Laguna Seca again, one of the most famous tracks in the world,” said Lorenzo. “I like riding there and one of my aims is to win there, some day!

“I have had some crashes there but last year I also took the pole and made it onto the podium. We come from a second place in Sachsenring and our target remains the same, to be consistent and to always aim for the podium.

“Before the race we will go to see Jay Leno and also I will hopefully visit the headquarters of Twitter in LA.”
