De Puniet confident about Brno return

5 August 2010

LCR Honda rider Randy de Puniet feels ready to return to MotoGP at next weekend's Czech Grand Prix at Brno. The Frenchman continues to recover from his crash at the Sachsenring and underwent a successful 2-hour operation on his left leg last month.

Speaking about his recovery, Randy commented: “I've been working hard on my recovery since the crash. Laguna Seca was the first Grand Prix I watched on TV since my debut in MotoGP!

“At the moment I visit the gym on a daily basis to train my body up again. The doctors have said they are surprised with the speed of my recovery and I have to admit I am as surprised as they are.

"I hardly use my crutches now and I hope to be back for the next Grand Prix at Brno; however, the final decision will be made in Brno next Thursday - when the circuit doctor will examine my leg and overall physical condition."

De Puniet has scored 69 points so far this season and therefore sits eighth in the championship standings.
