New team to join MotoGP in 2011
14 August 2010 – The Karel Abraham Ducati MotoGP team will enter the sport in 2011 the team announced at Brno on Saturday. The team, owned by Karel Abraham, will see his son, Karel Abraham Junior, ride the team's Ducati in next year's MotoGP championship.
Karel Abraham junior is currently riding an FTR prototype in Moto2 for the Cardion ab Motoracing team.
Speaking about his MotoGP project Abraham senior said: “This is a project to complete motorsport in the Czech Republic. Motorsport’s profile in the Czech Republic has slowly gone down and I think everywhere else it has gone up, and I think this can help raise it in a lot of countries in East Europe. This is my idea.”
“Karel is happy but must concentrate on Moto2 only at the moment, and then MotoGP next year. Now it is official but we must focus only on Moto2 for now.”
