Lorenzo targets further American success

24 August 2010

When it comes to racing in the United States, one has to look in the direction of Jorge Lorenzo at present. The championship leader, firmly on course for a maiden MotoGP title this season, has won the last couple of events held in the country.

Having benefitted from mistakes by Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi to clinch the win at Indianapolis last year, it was another Pedrosa slip-up which allowed the Yamaha man to stand on the top step of the podium at this year’s Laguna Seca race. Jorge now heads back to Indy for what he hopes will be another victory this weekend.

“The first back-to-back races in the second half of the season are coming and this first one after a few days of holiday in the US for me,” he began. “This weekend will be the second race in this country in 2010 and I am looking forward to it because I would like to repeat the same result as I got at Laguna!

“I just have good memories from America - last month at Laguna and last year at Indy. Last year was amazing but this time I don't need to take too many risks, we can avoid it!

“Indy is a track that I like a lot and it has an amazing history. The team and I are planning to continue our great season there this weekend.”
