Hayden eager to perform well at home

25 August 2010

This weekend’s Indianapolis Grand Prix marks the second 2010 race to be staged in the United States; and with the meeting also being the final race his home country this season, Ducati’s Nicky Hayden is highly keen to impress despite his injury.

Having suffering a disappointing 2009 campaign, Hayden finally came good at Indy by pleasing crowds with a podium finish. Heading into the 2010 encounter, Nicky lies sixth in the championship standings and in the heart of a titanic scrap for third overall.

“I really cannot wait to get to Indy for the race,” commented the 2006 Champion. “It's such a famous track with so much history and, being so close to my home, I’ve got a big crew making the trip to support me and my brother.

“The event has really grown a lot in just a few years - with the Indy mile dirt track, enduro cross, the stunt shows and all the downtown events - which really give the fans a chance to make the trip worthwhile.

“My broken wrist is better than last week at Brno, which I am very happy about, so we'll see on Friday just how much better.

“The weather looks good so I hope to come out strong from the gun on Friday and have a weekend worth remembering. Let's get it!”
