MotoGP on verge of retaining Indianapolis

26 August 2010

Officials at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) are positive over keeping their position on the MotoGP calendar once this weekend’s race has been completed. The series has been attending the venue since 2008, with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo having enjoyed the first two victories for Yamaha.

This Sunday’s race marks the third of a three-year contract with MotoGP commercial rights holder Dorna Sports although ISM President and CEO Jeff Belskus is confident that 2010 will not be the championship’s last visit to the legendary setting.

“While we have not yet finalised our deal for 2011, my expectation is we will get it put together in the next few days,” he told the IndyStar. “We still have a couple of unresolved issues but I do expect we will resolve these issues.”
