World Champion Valentino Rossi has admitted that he is yet to fully recover from the leg-breaking crash he suffered at Misano in early June, as the Fiat Yamaha rider now prepares to race in Italy for the first time since last year.
Having naturally missed the Italian event following his practice shunt, Rossi looks forward to this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix at Misano but is aware that he must still work on his general fitness after finishing a quiet fourth in the United States on Sunday.
“At Indianapolis we made some progress with our race settings but the conditions made me realise that I'm still not 100 percent fit,” the Urbino man on Tuesday afternoon.
“It's hard going straight to Misano with no break but hopefully it will be a little bit cooler than Indy! Of course it's my home race and it's near my house, so it's always very special to race there in front of all of my fans.
“I have won there the last two years but this year we come in slightly different circumstances. Still, we will be trying our hardest and I really hope I can give the fans a good show!”
