Tomizawa funeral held in Japan

16 September 2010

A final goodbye was said to Moto2’s Shoya Tomizawa on Wednesday as the 19-year-old’s funeral took place in Asahi, Chiba. The Japanese rider lost his life after the San Marino Grand Prix ten days earlier, having been struck by two other bikes after falling.

Over one thousand people attended the public service on Wednesday, after which Tomizawa was laid to rest.

As well as friends, family, Technomag-CIP tip boss Alain Bronec and other guests, fellow riders Yuki Takahashi and Tomoyoshi Koyama – of Moto2 and 125cc, respectively – also paid their respects.

Shoya’s racing leathers could be seen hanging adjacent to his coffin, which was surrounded by an arrangement of flowers and photographs.

All of the team at GPUpdate.net again wish to pass on their condolences to the family, friends and fans of Shoya Tomizawa.
