Dovizioso considers riding style change

8 October 2010

As Valentino Rosso returned to the top of a MotoGP timesheet by leading the way in Malaysia’s first practice session on Friday, Andrea Dovizioso finished second although the Honda rider believes that personal modifications may be all it takes to close the gap.

With a quickest personal lap time of 2:02.833 at Sepang, Dovizioso finished the day just over a tenth of a second slower than his compatriot.

“I’m happy with this first session at Sepang because we were fast from the very beginning of the practice period,” said the man who enjoyed a maiden career pole position at Motegi just six days ago.

“Today the conditions were really extreme, in terms of the heat - even more than we’re accustomed to here – so, physically, it was very hard. We started from a good base today, however.

“We will continue work on setup improvements and adjustments to the electronics to increase the stability at the front end under braking.

“But I think we have found the limit of the tyres in these conditions, so I will also try to adapt my riding style to make further improvements to the lap time tomorrow. Overall, we made a good start today.”
