Meregalli in as Brivio leaves Yamaha
3 November 2010 – The factory Yamaha team has announced that Valentino Rossi Team Manager Davide Brivio will be leaving the outfit after this weekend’s season-ending race in Valencia; having spent two decades with the Japanese company, he will be depart as Massimo Meregalli moves into the squad.
After being part of Yamaha for 19 years, be it in MotoGP or as the firm’s World Superbike Team Manager, Brivio bows out on Sunday:
‘Yamaha would like to express its sincere thanks and appreciation for the long collaboration and specifically for his involvement in the highly successful partnership with Valentino Rossi over the past seven years,’ reads a company statement. ‘We wish Davide all the best for the future.
‘At the same time we would also like to inform you of the appointment of Massimo "Maio") Meregalli, who will join the Yamaha Factory MotoGP Team in the role of Team Director.
Maio joins the MotoGP Team as a next step in his successful career to date with Yamaha as Team Manager of the Yamaha Motor Italia Supersport Team and, more recently, as Team Manager of the championship-winning Yamaha World Superbike Team.’
Meregalli will commence his new role of Team Manager on Monday 8 November – a day on which further details will be revealed by the team - in preparation for 2011 testing.
