Spain’s Toni Elías will return to the MotoGP class in 2011 as this year’s inaugural Moto2 Champion and the Spaniard was pleased with the opportunity to compete in the recent Monza Rally in Milan before heading back to his team’s factory.

Having taken a season out of the top flight, Elías makes his comeback with LCR Honda next year, as a string of off-season commitments now continue.

“I am travelling a lot lately for interviews, ceremonies etcetera,” he said after driving a Fiat Grande Punto Abarth to 28th in class and 70th overall.

“I like that but I needed a break and the Monza Rally was the right opportunity - that was my first time in a rally car but I enjoyed it a lot. I think I’ve found a new game to play!

“Before going back home I have decided to visit Lucio and the team at their tech division.

“I was impressed about the atmosphere and the history you can feel in that place; it’s full of photos, awards, motorbikes in every corner and all of the staff - technicians, hospitality staff, administration and commercial personnel and graphic department guys - have been very friendly and warm with me.”
