De Puniet has screw removed from knee

11 April 2011

Randy de Puniet has undergone further surgery for the removal of a screw from his left knee. The Pramac rider began the season with the support in place following the crash which broke his leg at the Sachsenring last year. With the operation having been successful, the Frenchman now looks forward to the Portuguese Grand Prix.

“I'm fine,” he described. “Though now that the local anesthesia has lost its effect I feel a bit of pain. That chapter has now closed; now, without this screw, I hope to improve my performance on-track. I hope to reach full physical condition ahead of Estoril.”

The 30-year-old has yet to finish a race in 2010, having retired in both Qatar and Spain.
