Repsol Honda has released a brief but official statement which confirms that Dani Pedrosa will be replaced by Gresini rider Hiroshi Aoyama for Saturday’s Dutch TT.
With the Spaniard having been injured in a collision with the other Gresini bike of Marco Simoncelli at Le Mans, he continues to recover from a broken shoulder and now hopes to return for the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello on 3 July.
At Gresini, Honda works test rider Kousuke Akiyoshi steps up to replace the temporarily absent Aoyama, therefore partnering Simoncelli this weekend.
First free practice at Assen begins at 10:10am local time (BST 1) on Thursday
