Ducati’s Valentino Rossi has set the fastest lap time in Saturday morning warm-up ahead of the Dutch TT. The Italian, with a best effort of 1:41.362, set the pace on a damp circuit from factory Yamaha duo Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies.
With Nicky Hayden ensuring the two Yamahas were sandwiched between the Ducati bikes on the timesheets, the works Hondas of Andrea Dovizioso and tempory substitute Hiroshi Aoyama completed the top six, with Casey Stoner down in 14th and pole-sitter Marco Simoncelli’s Gresini just one place ahead of the Australian.
Because of the drizzle, Simoncelli and Stoner only appeared on-track in the final few minutes, with both men posting just three laps. Suffering from a broken collarbone, Britain’s Cal Crutchlow – who starts this afternoon’s race from sixth for Tech3 Yamaha - was 12th quickest.
