LCR planning expansion in 2012

10 August 2011

LCR Honda is looking at the possibility of running two bikes next year, with Andrea Dovizioso and Stefan Bradl both linked to possible moves. According to MCN, MotoGP race winner Dovizioso could leave the factory Repsol Honda squad at the end of the season, while Bradl is poised to step up from the Viessmann Kiefer Moto2 outfit.

"We respect the teams in the championship, so Mr. Kiefer is supported by Viessmann and we wouldn’t feel happy or proud to steal their title sponsor," said LCR boss Lucio Cecchinello, when discussing the possibility of Bradl racing under his team’s guise.

"I didn’t approach Viesmmann, they approached us through Honda. We had some conversations during the German Grand Prix and now we need to prepare two different plans. One plan is with one rider and the other with two. I believe that Mr. Viessmann would first consider a project where he could be the sole title sponsor and it would be a German team.

"I understand that but we are preparing a project where Andrea is in one livery and Stefan another under the LCR banner. I believe it is important for them to understand what Stefan thinks and what he suggests to them. At the moment they are waiting to understand what Stefan wishes."

Throughout the 2011 season, Toni Elias has been the sole representative for LCR.
