2011 Czech Republic MotoGP Grand Prix: Saturday qualifying results

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa stormed to his first pole position of the season at Brno this afternoon, delivering a time of 1:56.591 at the end of a hard-fought qualifying session to overhaul fellow Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo. Casey Stoner ultimately had to settle for third place, slipping back down the order after leading for most of the hour.

An almost bone dry track surface welcomed the riders ahead of qualifying, with Stoner quickly establishing himself at the top of the timing screens. The Australian remained on top until rivals Lorenzo and Pedrosa posted stunning late efforts. The trio ended comfortably ahead of the other 14 riders, with Ben Spies best of the rest in fourth.

Marco Simoncelli and Valentino Rossi did enough to claim the final two spots on the second row, while Andrea Dovizioso grabbed seventh ahead of Americans Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden. Hiroshi Aoyama wound up in the final top ten spot, out-qualifying Cal Crutchlow by a mere 13 thousandths of a second to take the position.

Sunday's race begins at 2pm local time (BST +1)
