Barberá to miss Australian Grand Prix

8 October 2011

It has been confirmed by the Aspar Team that Héctor Barberá has been forced to miss next weekend’s Australian MotoGP. The Spaniard, following his accident in Japan, is expected to be dispatched from hospital by no later than Saturday.

As a result of the crash, Barberá suffered a four-part comminuted fracture to his right clavicle and was rushed to the intensive care unit of the Dokkyo University Hospital, then taken to Barcelona’s Clínica USP Dexeus upon his return to Spain.

Having underdone successful hand surgery in Barcelona, Barberá received a plate and compression screws in a bid to stabilize the multiple breaks to his right collarbone. After leaving the Barcelona clinic, he is allowed no physical activity within five days.
