Forward Racing to run Suter-BMW in 2012

21 October 2011

Colin Edwards has confirmed that the new Forward Racing team will be running a BMW-powered Suter bike for the 2012 MotoGP season. Having announced that he would join the outfit in September, the American revealed the latest news at Sepang.

Edwards moved to iron out the situation, as paddock word has dictated of late that he and Forward were to be powered by a Yamaha engine developed by Tech 3.

“At the beginning I just said we’d run a Yamaha engine and a Tech 3 chassis, because that was my way of putting some pressure on some guys and they obviously didn’t care what I thought because they said no!” Edwards laughed.

“It will be a BMW/Suter which is what I signed for in the beginning and I’m happy to be working with those guys.

"We’ll have to go out there and work and test. It’s probably not going to be competitive in the first race, maybe not in the last race, but we’ll work extremely hard to build it.”
