Dani Pedrosa continued his pace-setting trend in Malaysia on Saturday morning, topping the timesheets ahead of Gresini rival Marco Simoncelli in the final free practice session of the weekend. The Repsol Honda rider's time of 2:01.769 put him comfortably ahead of the Italian, with team-mate Andrea Dovizioso in third.
Despite not being able to improve on his time during the second practice outing on Friday, Pedrosa was the only man to beat the 2:02.000 barrier as the chequered flag came out. The Spaniard's team-mate, Casey Stoner, had to settle for fourth place, with Nicky Hayden and Álvaro Bautista narrowly trailing the double World Champion.
Colin Edwards was the leading Tech 3 rider once again in seventh place, with Valentino Rossi, Hiroshi Aoyama and Loris Capirossi the final top ten runners.
