Race stopped after Simoncelli crash
The Malaysian Grand Prix has been red flagged following a major accident on Lap 2, with Gresini's Marco Simoncelli losing his helmet and lying motionless on the track after falling off his bike. The Italian was hit by both Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi when he lost control of his Honda machine, with the pair unable to avoid contact.
The race was halted immediately, with Simoncelli currently undergoing treatment in the medical centre. News has recently come in that the Cattolica man is conscious, while Tech 3 rider Edwards is predicted to have dislocated a shoulder.
