Malaysian Grand Prix cancelled

2011 Malaysian MotoGP Grand Prix: Sunday

The Malaysian Grand Prix has been cancelled following a massive crash on the second lap of the race, with officials ultimately opting not to restart proceedings.

After losing control of his bike, Simoncelli slipped into the path of Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards, with his helmet falling off before he was taken for treatment.

With Simoncelli currently being attended to in the medical centre, the reason cited for calling off the race is the fact that the Italian is in a critical condition.
