Marshalls dropped Simoncelli on stretcher

Amateur footage from Sepang on Sunday has showed Malaysian MotoGP marshals dropping a stretcher carrying the fatally wounded Marco Simoncelli. The Gresini rider, who had fallen from his bike and was hit by Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi, succumbed to his injuries in the circuit medical centre.

Although the moment was never seen during the official television broadcast of the cancelled race, footage captured by a fan from the grandstand at the final corner – uploaded to video sharing website YouTube - clearly portrays marshals rushing the 24-year-old Italian towards an ambulance, only to drop the stretcher carrying him.
