Pins removed from Bautista’s leg
16 December 2011 – Álvaro Bautista experienced a successful operation in Madrid on Wednesday, having the pins removed from his left thigh bone. This followed a crash for the rider, competing with the now departed Suzuki outfit, at the start of the 2011 season.
“Thanks to the all the staff at the USP San José hospital and Dr. Angel Villamor’s terrific team, who have always treated me well,” the 27-year-old Spaniard said yesterday. “Now I’ll rest and tomorrow morning I’ll get discharged to rest at home.”
Bautista’s accident took place on the opening weekend of the campaign in Qatar, which at the time resulted in emergency surgery but left no negative effects for the rest of the season. He will join the Honda Gresini team in 2012.
