Ducati has launched the bike it hopes will enable current riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden to fight for this year's MotoGP crown, with the Desmosedici GP12 being unveiled via an internet stream from the team's Bologna factory on Monday.

The new machine, which features a more prominent Italian livery, also houses a fully-fledged 1000cc engine, running to the limit of this year's tweaked regulations.

With Casey Stoner leaving at the end of 2010, Ducati is yet to win a world title since the Australian's triumph in 2007. Last year, the GP11 scored just two podium finishes at the hands of Rossi and Hayden, with large gains being targeted for 2012.
