Recovering Edwards 'feeling great' after surgery
8 May 2012 – NGM Mobile Forward Racing rider Colin Edwards says he is 'feeling great' after surgery to a fracture on his left clavicle, performed by Dr. Javier Mir after the American crashed in qualifying at Estoril. The two-time Superbike World Champion, who is racing with a CRT bike in 2012, is now resting prior to his return to action.
"Doctor Mir and his team have done a great job," said a thankful Edwards. "They were the ones that took care of me the last time. The surgery was really quick. I’m feeling great, still a little dizzy from the anaesthesia but feeling all right.
"They put a block on the side of my neck so it’s feeling a little numb. I’m here watching TV and tweeting. Just want to let everyone know I’m ok!"
Edwards is expected to remain in hospital for a further day, before flying back to native America on Wednesday. The 38-year-old has not yet revealed a desired return date.
