Lorenzo aims for repeat of 2010
11 June 2012 – Jorge Lorenzo leads the MotoGP World Championship heading into this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone, with a 20-point lead over current title holder Casey Stoner. The Spaniard now aims to put his 2011 crash well behind him.
Last year, the Yamaha man fell at Abbey corner in treacherous conditions, but is confident of extending his championship lead by winning again this weekend.
“Silverstone is a track I like very much,” he says. “In 2010 I think I did the best riding of the season; we won with a big advantage. Unfortunately last year, it rained and I crashed trying to catch Casey. Let’s see if this year we can repeat the 2010 race.
“It’s a track which is very positive for Yamaha, so I am confident we can achieve a good result.”
Behind the injured Stoner, the second works Honda of Dani Pedrosa sits third in the championship, with Lorenzo’s team-mate Ben Spies currently in 11th place.
