Iannone and Redding to test for Ducati

31 July 2012

Moto2 chargers Andrea Iannone and Scott Redding will be testing the Ducati MotoGP bike at Mugello this week, the Italian team has confirmed.

Nicky Hayden has already signed a one-year contract extension for the 2013 season, but Valentino Rossi is tipped to move back to Yamaha, thus leaving an open vacancy.

At present, no MotoGP rookie is able to jump straight onto a factory bike; this regulation has been revised for next year, with Moto2’s Marc Márquez of Spain already confirmed to be joining compatriot Dani Pedrosa at Honda.

Ducati is yet to make any statements about next season’s rider line-up. With regards to the satellite teams, Pramac’s Héctor Barbará remains with a broken left fibula and tibia and Cardion’s Karel Abraham is also on the sidelines because of injury.
