Stoner to miss Brno due to surgery

23 August 2012

Casey Stoner will skip this weekend’s Czech MotoGP through injury, the Repsol Honda team has confirmed on Thursday afternoon. This means that both Honda and Ducati are missing one rider from their respective works teams at Brno.

Like Ducati’s Nicky Hayden, Stoner – the reigning Champion who will be retiring at the end of the season – was injured in a crash at Indianapolis last weekend. In a short statement, Honda confirmed that the Australian would be returning to his home nation.

‘Casey Stoner will leave Brno this evening for Australia after his doctors advised him to have surgery on his damaged ankle,’ the communique reads.

Stoner will hold a press conference in the Honda hospitality area later this afternoon.
