Valencia 2012 will bring the curtain down on Valentino Rossi’s tenuous relationship with Ducati. The partnership, which started at the beginning of last season, has failed to yield a race victory and the Italian heads back to Yamaha next year.
“Valencia definitely isn’t one of my favourite circuits, apart from the fact that it’s in Spain where there is always a great atmosphere,” he says, having lost the 2006 world title to Nicky Hayden at the Ricardo Tormo track.
“It’s a ‘Micky Mouse’ track that’s small for MotoGP and therefore difficult and tricky. There’s a bunch of left-hand corners and I normally prefer those that go to the right. Anyway, we’ll see.
“The asphalt was redone and that should have improved both the grip and the bumps. It will be a strange weekend that should be challenging for a few different reasons, but we’ll do our best.”
Ahead of 2013, Rossi has already accepted that he will play a number two role to Jorge Lorenzo but hopes to enjoy several more Grand Prix victories before his retirement.
