Hernández and Laverty form PBM line-up
5 December 2012 – Yonny Hernández and Michael Laverty will race for Paul Bird Motorsports in MotoGP next year, the Penrith-based team has confirmed. After its maiden campaign in motorcycle racing's top echelon, the outfit is expanding to two CRT bikes in 2013.
Hernández joins PBM UK after a debut MotoGP season with Avintia Blusens, while Michael Laverty is making the step up from the British Superbike Championship.
"We have now finalised all the details of the contracts and I'm delighted to announce that both Yonny and Michael will be riding for us in MotoGP next season," said Team Owner Paul Bird. "We learned a lot this season and we plan on building on that as we want to challenge for top CRT honours and I see no reason why we can't."
Britain's James Ellison, who ended the 2012 season as the fourth highest CRT rider with a total of 35 points to his name, recently lost his place at the squad.
