Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa continued his pace-setting form during the second day of testing at Sepang, posting a 2:00.549 to lead Jorge Lorenzo by a slender margin of 19 thousandths of a second. The pair once again led the way from Marc Márquez, with Valentino Rossi edging his way back to the front in fourth.

As ever, sultry conditions were the order of the day at the Malaysian Grand Prix venue, with Pedrosa and Lorenzo taking little time to get up to speed. It was Cal Crutchlow who was the best of the rest behind the top four factory runners for the second day in a row, edging out Stefan Bradl on his Tech 3 machine. Álvaro Bautista was next up, while British Moto2 graduate Bradley Smith continued his impressive form in eighth.

Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso rounded out the top ten for the factory Ducati squad, but finished over 1.5 seconds adrift of Pedrosa's personal best effort. The humidity that all 28 riders faced ultimately yielded rainfall during the final stages of the afternoon session, cutting short the day of testing action by one hour.
