Dani Pedrosa was the quickest man on the final day of pre-season testing at Sepang, with the Repsol Honda rider lowering his benchmark time further to a 2:00.100. The Spaniard led Yamaha rival Jorge Lorenzo by 0.329 seconds, while Marc Márquez suffered the first setback of his MotoGP career when he crashed in the morning.
Optimum testing conditions greeted the riders at the Malaysian venue on Wednesday, with the overcast skies witnessed over the past two days largely clearing. Once again, Pedrosa and Lorenzo were quickly on the pace, while Valentino Rossi managed to cut the lead gap further by posting a time just 0.119 seconds adrift of his team-mate.
Despite his crash, which occurred shortly before lunch time, Márquez managed to claim fourth on the timing screens, finishing just ahead of Cal Crutchlow who was the final man to lap under the 2:01.000 barrier. Álvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl were next up, while Bradley Smith ended his test week in eighth, two seconds off the lead pace. Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso again rounded out the top ten for Ducati.
