Dani Pedrosa set the pace on the final day of MotoGP's penultimate pre-season test at Sepang, setting a time of 2:00.562 to edge out Repsol Honda team-mate Marc Márquez. World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, whose quickest effort from Wednesday stands as the overall best of the week, wound up third fastest for Yamaha.
The riders were again greeted with hot and humid conditions at the Sepang International Circuit this morning which, although unpleasant, paved the way for more useful running. However, Ducati rider Nicky Hayden and Honda's Márquez pushed a little too hard in their quest for improved times, falling at Turns 1 and 9 respectively. Both men escaped without injury, but provided some extra work for their mechanics.
Behind the top three riders, who all lapped under the 2:01.000 barrier, it was an extremely close affair, with Valentino Rossi, Álvaro Bautista and Cal Crutchlow covered by just 32 thousandths of a second. Stefan Bradl was next up in seventh place, while Andrea Dovizioso trimmed Ducati's deficit to 1.088 seconds. Hayden finished ninth after his aforementioned accident, while Bradley Smith completed the top ten runners.
The final MotoGP pre-season test takes place at Jerez from 23-25 March
