Preziosi leaves Ducati for health reasons

1 March 2013

Filippo Preziosi, the former General Manager of Ducati, has left the team due to health reasons. The 45-year-old Italian, who has overseen the outfit's MotoGP programme since its debut back in 2003, was set to become Director of R&D after being replaced by former BMW man Bernhard Gobmeier, but will now pass on his new position.

"Engineer Filippo Preziosi has communicated his intention to resign from his position at Ducati Motor Holding," began a statement from the Bologna-based outfit.

"Declaring reasons of poor health related to his particular physical condition, Preziosi's resignation was accepted by Ducati, saddened and disappointed to lose such an accomplished and strategic member of staff. The company respectfully acknowledges the 45-year old Italian's decision and thanks him for his significant contribution during his 19 years with Ducati, 12 of which were within Ducati Corse."

Ducati, which is fielding Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso on its two factory machines this season, says Preziosi’s successor will be named in due course.
