Repsol Honda's Marc Márquez topped the timesheets on the opening day of this week's private MotoGP test at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin. After a cold start to the day, the Spaniard gradually lowered his benchmark time to a 2:04.619.
Dani Pedrosa finished almost half a second adrift of team-mate Márquez in second place, with Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo a little further back. Stefan Bradl was next up for LCR Honda, while Valentino Rossi was the last of the full-time runners in fifth.
The only other riders on-track were Blake Young and Michael Barnes, with both men given wildcard entries for all three of this year's MotoGP races on American soil.
