Márquez continues dominance in fourth practice
17 August 2013 – Marc Márquez made it a clean sweep of fastest times in all practice sessions ahead of qualifying for the Indianapolis Grand Prix, the Spaniard again the only man to break into the 1:38’s in free practice four.
Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo had been the long-time leader of the afternoon session, but a flurry of laps as the clock ticked down meant that the reigning champion eventually dropped down to fourth, with Cal Crutchlow and Stefan Bradl again rounding out the top three behind Márquez.
Andrea Espargaro suffered an accident as he rode his CRT bike onto the start/finish straight, with the Italian unsettling the balance of his machine as his rear tyre slid up onto the exit rumble strip. The resulting flip ended with a hard landing, although he has since been passed fit enough to take part in qualifying.
Márquez’s leading time was a 1:38.986, with Crutchlow and Bradl two tenths down. Dani Pedrosa and Alvaro Bautista completed the top six behind Lorenzo.
Qualifying for the Indianapolis Grand Prix gets underway at 14:10pm local time (GMT-5)
