Lorenzo moves ahead in second practice
30 August 2013 – Jorge Lorenzo ended Friday afternoon's second practice session at Silverstone as the fastest rider. The reigning World Champion clocked a sub-record lap time of 2:02.734 to lead Marc Márquez by two tenths of a second, with Dani Pedrosa occupying third.
After comfortably topping the morning timesheets, Repsol Honda's Márquez was unable to keep up with the progress made by his Yamaha rival on a much improved track surface, ending the 45-minute session precisely 0.224 seconds in arrears.
Álvaro Bautista and Valentino Rossi moved ahead of local hero Cal Crutchlow to end the day fourth and fifth respectively, while Andrea Dovizioso led Ducati's charge in eighth. Bradley Smith was next up, just ahead of Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden.
Aleix Espargaró was the fastest CRT rider in 11th, narrowly missing out on a top ten spot. Bryan Staring suffered the only crash at Farm, limping away from the scene.
Third practice at Silverstone begins at 9.55am local time (GMT+1) on Saturday
