Injured Márquez to avoid operation
4 September 2013 – Marc Márquez will not have to undergo surgery following his crash during warm-up for last weekend's British Grand Prix. The news was revealed after further tests were conducted by Dr. Xavier Mir at the Quiron Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona.
The incident in question occurred on the run down to the Vale chicane, with Márquez crashing just moments after Cal Crutchlow suffered a similar shunt. The Repsol Honda rider’s bike flipped into the air, making contact with the abandoned Tech 3 machine, the championship leader later limping gingerly away from the scene.
Although a dislocated shoulder was diagnosed by circuit medical staff, Márquez went on to ride a spirited race, challenging Jorge Lorenzo for victory up until the final lap.
