Márquez stays ahead in second practice
13 September 2013 – Repsol Honda's Marc Márquez maintained his authority over the MotoGP field during second practice at Misano on Friday afternoon. With a time of 1:34.200, the Spaniard led team-mate and compatriot Dani Pedrosa by a reduced margin of 0.033 seconds.
As the second 45-minute session of the weekend got underway, the Yamahas of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi traded the early fastest laps, although the pair slipped behind their works Honda rivals and ultimately failed to produce a response.
Aspar's Aleix Espargaró produced an impressive lap to reach the top five, placing just ahead of Gresini's Álvaro Bautista and Pramac rider Michele Pirro. Andrea Dovizioso finished eighth, in front of Stefan Bradl – who suffered a late fall – and Cal Crutchlow.
There were also crashes for Bradley Smith, Yonny Hernández and Karel Abraham, the latter supporting his injured shoulder while walking gingerly away from the scene.
